The magazine: SOS! (school of sound)

Target Readership: SOS! is a affordable magazine which will be priced between £1.50 - £2.00 aimed at mostly the male side of society giving them an equivalent to the hand bag sized magazines that are made especially for women. This will be hand and easy to carry for any guy on the go or just taking a short break at work at either a full time or part time job. Size doesn't matter! this tag line adds an effect and makes and interesting relation to the size of the magazine and the myth about a mans size. The average SOS reader is a confident man who is interested in the latest music updates and news about the new tunes and bands released. The magazine is for all men but especially the working man that's always on the go and can refer to the magazine as a place to get away. SOS is the magazine for the strong, dominant and hardworking male. The magazine may also have a stereotypical view of the other sex mostly in pictures this makes it more of a mans mag.

Form and Style: SOS! is a A5 short but sweet magazine that still covers all the areas you would expect to see in a music magazine. It contains all the updates, news, celebs, life style and reviews; it may also include the new released CD of the month. The cover will have a cool yet glamours style as it will feature celebs, this will mostly be band pictures, mostly in natural colours to make it life like. SOS will use bold text to highlight the main most important and also use contrasting colours hat are easy to read and easy on the readers eye. SOS! will be at the top of the page bold and in a red colour, i feel this will attract the reader into buying the magazine. The front cover will look bright and expensive which will make the reader feel they have got value for money.

Themes and typical features: SOS has the typical theme of being a big band music magazine that will feature only the most popular and exclusive bands of today, this may relate to the UK top 40. It will be a weekly magazine that update the audience on the new releases and new bands that are topping on downloads and records sold. Cover lines will be used to inform the reader about the big bands that will feature in the magazine and also tell the reader what else the magazine has to offer such as interviews and free posters. The magazine may well include shocking pictures of exposed celebs and interviews.
